ACE ★ SPELL IT. WRITE IT. OWN IT.

ACE - Privacy Policy

Effective 28 July 2026

ACE is made and sold by Hive Hub Collective Pty Ltd (ABN 72 687 287 627), trading as Hive Hub Collective ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what happens to information when a child uses ACE. It is short, because ACE does very little with information on purpose.

The short version

We do not collect anything about your child. Not their name, not the words they ask for, not how they went. Nothing is sent to us, because there is nowhere to send it - ACE has no accounts, no sign-in, no server, no analytics and no advertising.

Everything ACE remembers is written to the device it is running on and stays there. We never see it. If you delete it, it is gone, including from us - because we never had it.

There is one honest exception about Ace's speaking voice. It is in section 6. Please read that one.

1What ACE saves, and where

When a grown-up sets a child up, ACE saves the following in the device's own local storage (technically, under the key ace-data):

That is the complete list. ACE does not ask for and cannot store an email address, a date of birth, a photo, a voice recording, a location, a contact, a school, or anything about a device's owner.

This information never leaves the device. It is not uploaded, synced, backed up to us, shared or sold. We have no way to read it.

2Buying ACE - what we do hold

When you buy ACE, our checkout runs on a secure third-party payment platform. Through it we receive the ordinary details of a sale: your name, your email address, and confirmation of payment. We use them to deliver your access link, provide support and keep the records a business must keep. Your card details are handled entirely by the payment provider - we never see or store them. Nothing from your purchase is connected to your child's profile in ACE, because nothing in ACE ever reaches us.

3What ACE does not do

We want to be specific, because "we value your privacy" means nothing on its own. ACE contains:

4Why it is built this way

Because the children using ACE are asking it for the words they cannot spell. That is a private, sometimes embarrassing thing to hand over, and a child will only keep handing it over if nothing happens as a result. Nothing being logged is not a feature of the product. It is the product.

5More than one child on one device

Each child has their own profile with their own words, badges and stickers. These are kept separate for tidiness, not for security - anyone using the device can switch profiles and see any profile's words. If two children in a family should not see each other's, use separate devices or separate device user accounts.

6Ace's speaking voice - the one exception

This matters, so plainly:

Ace reads words, meanings and encouragement aloud. To do that, ACE currently uses the speech feature built into the web browser or operating system it is running on.

What is sent in that case is the single word or sentence Ace is speaking. It is not attached to your child's name, their profile, or anything else ACE stores.

If you want to avoid this entirely: run ACE on an iPad in Safari, or turn the device's sound off and use ACE silently. We are also replacing this browser speech with a real Australian voice built into ACE itself, so this exception goes away. Until it does, we would rather tell you than quietly claim a promise we cannot keep on every device.

7Children's privacy

ACE is intended for children, set up by a parent, guardian or carer. Because ACE does not collect personal information at all, there is nothing for us to hold about a child, and no profile of a child exists anywhere but on your own device.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, because the app does not collect personal information at all.

8Deleting everything

You are in control and it takes seconds:

Once cleared, it is gone permanently. We cannot restore it, because we never had a copy. Please make sure a child is finished with their word list before wiping it.

9If ACE is ever supplied through an app store

If you get ACE from an app store, that store may collect its own information about the download, the payment and the device, under its own privacy policy. That is between you and them. We do not receive information about your child from any app store.

10Your rights

Australian privacy law gives you rights to ask an organisation what personal information it holds about you, to correct it, and to complain about how it has been handled.

For your child, the honest answer to "what do you hold?" is nothing - there is no record with us to access, correct or delete. For you, we hold only the purchase details in section 2. If you would like any of that corrected or deleted (where the law allows), or you think we have got something wrong, write to us at hello@hivehubcollective.co and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

11Changes to this policy

If ACE ever changes in a way that affects this - for example, if a future version offered optional cloud backup or a parent dashboard - we will update this policy, change the effective date, and make the change obvious. We will not start collecting a child's information quietly. Any feature that sends anything anywhere will be off by default and will require a grown-up to knowingly turn it on.
